Copyright Cost

Registration of a copyright is a fairly simple and inexpensive process and is, therefore, highly recommended. The fee is around $30. In general all that is necessary is to file a copy of the work with the Copyright Office (part of the Library of Congress) with the appropriate form and submit the fee. This Office determines only if the material is of a copyrightable type and makes no examination for originality, etc.

A few other types of copyrightable material are: poetry, game boards and rules, catalogs, and advertisements. Examples of materials not ordinarily copyrightable include: titles, slogans, material which is not original, material which is not creative (a list of names and telephone numbers), and forms.
